Excellent points, Don.
I don't think anyone has a clue, only conjecture. While someone may
have a pile at their feet, there is no knowledge of how much exists in
the world waiting playback.
Where would the tape be stored? At TV stations? Networks? Production
companies? Individuals?
And what are they waiting on?
I remember seeing pallets of quad tape getting transferred at TV City
for the Game Show Network. But what is left?
