Surely NTSC doesn't have any VAS.
I can remember joining the BBC in 1980 and being intrigued by early and
late sources on the Network Mixer.
Imagine having Studio 6 to transmission and having a VT machine playing
a 25 minute cartoon into that studio, and then at network Control being
able to cut to that VT machine direct with no discontinuity of any sort.
The EARLY VT source routed via the studio was timed to be synchronous
with the LATE source direct. All before the days of frame stores.

If one person has delusions, we call them psychotic. If, however, 1.5 billion
people have delusions we must apparently call them a religious group, and
respect their delusionary state.
