One thing we noticed which may support David's theory is that the monitor bridge is not squared with the machine, indicating that it is no longer properly attached to the bridge support, but at least it didn't get thrown away!

  I'm putting my money on the theory that this machine was in a remote truck (converted bread van, station wagon, Winnebago etc.), the monitor bridge was removed and the audio monitor chassis had to go somewhere.
