The exchange was for RCA's color technology and you're correct, it is
documented in one of Ginsberg's articles.
3M did make accessory dropout compensators, but I think that Ampex and RCA
offered their versions prior to 3M entering the market.
Yes, the Amtec inventor was Charles Colson of WBBM.
