 From the Ampex Factbook-1970

• July, 1959: Ampex received an order from the National Educational  
Television and Radio Center for
videotape recorders which ultimately led to installations in  
educational television stations
throughout the United States.

July, 1965: VR-660B was introduced.

July, 1968: Electronic Timer, an electronic video tape timer that  
permits precise timing of
recordings on Ampex VR-2000 and VR-1200 Series high band color videotape

June, 1969: Ampex delivered its 1,000th Model VR-2000 high band color  
videotape recorder to the
CBS Television Network studios in New York City.
