Not only did Ampex sell cameras, but WLTV-TV in Miami had a BIG Ampex UHF

Hi, Guy, and list,
In looking for something else (529 waveform monitor) ran across this
document from former Ampex guy Chuck Colby's website.

This outlines an Ampex-built series of remote trucks with VR-1100's in
them. Caused me to wonder whether the Army LBM tape Guy featured in his
recent TR-70 post might have been recorded in one of these vans.
Chuck's resume notes several built under his supervision while at Ampex
from 1966-77.
He also had something to do with pairing the VR-3000B with the Ampex
TBC-900 for a portable broadcast system:

Anyone have a TBC-900?
I've seen some of his work near me... in the original Ampex turnkey
installation for Sacramento's channel 31, then called KMUV-TV, which featured
movies all day in its initial incarnation.

(http://www.sbe124.org/Tours/Sacramento/KMUV/) Note the 1200's in the first picture.
What I don't remember seeing when I first visited (after it went into
bankruptcy a few years later) are the pair of
Type A machines in the background of this photo:

I'd guess these were fully decked out VR-7900's? Wonder where they went.
