Sounds like nominations are underway for the first annual Quaddie™ or
Quaddy™ award, bestowed through the Quad Videotape Group for
meritorious service to preserve Quad Videotape, the machines that play
them, and the knowledge needed to do so.

(Does that sound a little too "Wizard of Oz" like?)

Or as Dennis suggested back on March 7, ""The Quaddie Award" for
excellence in preserving the vanishing art of 2-inch quadruplex
videotape recording and reproduction."

To facilitate this recognition, please click here to send an e-mail
to: ted at quadvideotapegroup.com
and make sure the subject line says "Quaddy (or Quaddie) Award
Nomination."

The nominee does NOT have to be a member of this list.

A separate posthumous award category can also be considered, if you
wish to recognize someone whose contributions to the art and science
might need to be highlighted in such a way.

Please tell why you're nominating this person along with their name
and contact information (where known.)

Also which Award Name you prefer.

Nominations will be taken through 23:59:59;29 Pacific Daylight time on
August 20, 2009.

A list of nominees will be e-mailed to all list members by September
1, with voting to conclude on Sept. 15.

The recipient will be notified soon after so that they may make
arrangements to attend the presentation.

The award will be presented to the recipient in person at the Quad
Videotape Group dinner during the Association of Moving Image
Archivists Conference, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 in St. Louis, MO.

Details about dinner, menu and cost will be announced as they are
available. Anyone with knowledge of St. Louis is asked to suggest
locations.

The AMIA Conference website is here: http://www.amiaconference.com/
Hotel is the
Millennium Hotel St. Louis
200 South 4th Street
St. Louis, MO 63102
