[QuadList] SCETV Consoles--did they look like these RCA badgedsystems?

To be fair. I worked on The 800s at RCA. They were first presented to the
world before the BVH-1100 so there is nothing in them that resembles a 2000.
Now to be even more fair. Had they actually worked with all the intended
features when they were first introduced, they would have been the best 1"
machine available. Automatic synchronization during editing. RS-422 (prior
to Sony protocol) control. Lots of great "intended" stuff. However, they
did not work when first introduced which is why they sold 1100s and 2000s
from Sony. Then they were re-introduced later but much too late to take any
market share. And not all the issues were addressed. Plenty of time for
Sony and Ampex to beat the features. The ones at Action were quite nice at
the time as they were taken care of by Dave Tosch who was quite intimate
with the machines. There are a lot more stories that I might tell when I
have the time.
Regards, Gary

Action Video had some 800s and I was told by the owner that RCA just copied
the Sony 2000, except their Xerox machines didn't do such a great job. RCA
was supposed to add features but the total effort was not a success. And
then came digital. . .

Hi Ted:
The pic from the oldradio site is a bit inaccurate. It was actually a
TH-800, not TR, but the most interesting thing is that the picture is a
mirror image.
Ah... Should have noted the bars backwards and a closer look at the waveform
and vectorscope would have also revealed burst on the wrong side of the H
sync and going to the right instead of left.
How about this:

David Crosthwait has some "Runaway" stories about the 800's as I recall.
