Hi Randy,
All I can remember from my 36 hrs in Placid was the Snowmobile incident, and the
fake station that was on an intercom channel, run by the top intercom guy, and
it was called, "WJPB" (VP engineering of all ABC was, Julius P. Barnathan) and
the sign-on/sign-off theme song was
" Take this Job and Shove It" (written by David Alan Coe and made famous by
Johnny Paycheck) and fit the union attitude very well.
Bye for now, Bill
Hi
I think ABC had an ESS at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid. I remember this big
Ampex box in a little room with a couple of proto Dubners and probably some
other CGs. Lots crammed into a small space.
I lived in Lake Placid for 3 months overseeing all the GVG gear.
Randy
