[QuadList] Help identifying an unknown Ampex Quad machine

This machine illustrates one of the major design differences between RCA and Ampex.  Because all of the Ampex subsystems were basically self-contained, all of their machines in the VR-1000/1100/1200/2000 series could be upgraded with interchangeable parts.  Of course that ended with the AVR-1, but up until then, any frame could be upgraded as desired, and that wasn't possible between models with RCA.  You couldn't turn a TRT-1 into the equivalent of a TR-70.  Now which design approach was better is a matter for much debate..............
