Same problem our audits were internal from the asset people

and they have been known to ask where the 6 TR70's are

The stores people said they always wanted to see the Marconi camera, thin
film modules as they were expensive

If you knew they were coming just count the thin film modules, keep a few
broken ones around if you were short

and you would always pass a stock take or Asset check

George will appreciate this story.

We got a surprise visit from a government auditor at the Avalon TV Centre
one day. He picked some items from the asset register and asked to have a
look at them.

One of the items he wanted to see was an ACR25 "Video Recorder". VHS had
just become available back then and I think he was expecting to see
something similar. One of my colleagues gasped and said "Oh no...were
caught. X took the machine home last night to play with it".

The auditor said where is X now. We replied "He is on the night shift. We
could ask him to bring the ACR25 back when he comes in. If you can come
back after transmission closes at midnight we can show it to you then".

The auditor never came back.
