Out here in Podunk (relatively), we got our first electronic editor
installed as a retrofit kit on one of the TR-4s the station had around
late 1967.
It was not considered a creative tool at the time, but merely a possible
way to avoid starting completely over in case of a mammoth screwup on
the 25-30 minute instructional programs we were producing like potato
chips in the "live to tape" mode.
We didn't use editing as a component of any sort of "normal" production
until a short time after we went color and got a 2000 with Editec. That
was in 1969.
