We're re-making the front page for Quadvideotapegroup.com, and I'm
featuring Quad gear and related things for 1960, 1970 and 1980.

IE:

1960: The Ampex VR1001A upright, Intersync, Amtec and RCA TR-2 Quads
were introduced. Ampex shares VTR patents with Sony in exchange for
transistor circuit assistance.

Ch. 20 in Montgomery, AL was using a TR-2 in 1968... that was
"liberated off an aircraft carrier."

Anyone recall RCA machines being used on carriers?

Don Murray might want to comment on this photo from Xen Scott--showing
what's apparently the WTVJ tape bus:

Don: Were these house-modified VR-1000's (*made upright) or were these
VR-1000A's from the factory?
Any details on the tape bus falling into the drink?

1970: Ampex and RCA introduce Quad-based cartridge recorder/players
for short-length elements like commercials, promos and news stories.
