Its great to see Joe Roizen in these photos!
If anybody was at the heart of quad development it was Joe.
He had a great story about "slopping up" the 3.58 oscillator in a color
monitor to prove
that a quad machine could play color - and then having to explain to
management that
it would take a lot of processing to make the process work for everybody's
home TV's.
He also was involved with helping the French develop the technical specs for
SECAM,
which he swore stood for "Something Entirely Contrary to American Methods".
I worked with Joe at Image West in the early '80's.
He was a gentleman, a scholar, and could crack a mean joke - in 3 or 4
languages no less!
For those of you who knew Joe and may not have seen this, you'll get a kick
out of it!
