[QuadList] OT - ACE 25 booting

One thing about TTL monitors. I had one (no longer) a while back. I wonder
if you would normally see a single blinking cursor when the unit is powered
up. Maybe there is no boot text but do you recall at least seeing a cursor
before? It is a bit worrisome that the problem is the monitor.

I didn't realize you had so many of the things. :) Yeah, if they ALL act the
same... Then again, if there are any dissimilar metal connections anywhere,
that could be a problem. I've dealt with Gold on Tin connections that
corrode over time. Something to consider.

There's probably some button that needs to be pressed that will force the
BIOS and boot-up displays at startup. If that doesn't exist, then there
would, again, probably be a jumper somewhere. How could a tech ever diagnose
a problem? Even on Mac systems, there are keys that can be pressed to see
the full boot-up. (I think it's something like (Command-V). V is for
Verbose)

Just a thought. Anyway, I'm curious how it goes. Could be worse, you could
still have the CMX Edge. :)

H Gary,

Yes, good stuff from Scott and Don.

One of the three systems has a hard drive. I can hear it spin up and the
head reads. After it hits on the hard drive, it then goes to the A and B
floppies. And then nothing.

I do have a V6.2 DOS disk than can boot the ACE. But we have to get it to
load the data from the disk.

Good info from Scott. Sorry as I don't know the hardware. Does this have a
hard drive or does it just boot and run from the floppy? I have some 3.5"
DOS boot disks for the TLC. I always keep DOS machines running. Even have
a laptop that will boot from a disk. If you want a copy, I can send one.
Probably a reset of the BIOS will help.
