Hi David and Folks,

There was no reason to build the AVR-1 with a DTBC, becuase the buffer worked so well.

The AVR-1 was out of production, when the ACR-25 was still being built and sold and the "B" version reduced building costs and test labor.

I was the product manager for the ACR-25, in1976 for a short time (maybe four months), and then turned it over to Boh Bohunicky, who worked with the "B" model, and added the DTBC.

So, no DTBC in a AVR-1 from Ampex

There was an AVR-1 with a digital TBC that was basically the same as what was in an AVR-2. However, I am not aware that the digital TBC version of the AVR-1 was a "B" model. I don't think that many were produced. The ACR25B had basically the same digital TBC.

I think this is the list.  But was there a B version of the AVR-1?   The B version of the ACR-25 had the digital TBC rather than the glass delay lines. I would like to know if there were B versions of the 1001 or 1002. Bill, your turn on this one.  The rest are complete as far as I know. It shows how much more we care about the Ampex brand than that other one.  We know the Ampex brand a lot better and I would be that most of the machines still in existence and running are Ampex.
