This is the lever arm from the Soviet predecessor to Star Wars.  They  did 
everything first did you not know?

RCA model TG-25 Special Effects Generator Selector panel and Effects Lever  
Control Assembly.
 
The interesting thing is that the pattern selector buttons were replaceable 
 with a new one.  They all had diodes on them that selected the  pattern.  
Now was this the first digital selection system?
