Hi Folks,
Maybe Nubar had a profitable fire? It's much harder to start a Flood!

The first Riker items that I saw were in a GE switcher that was custom made
for WWJ-TV (now WDIV-TV) in Detroit. These were the mix amps and special
effects for the switcher.
There was a connection with Riker, Richmond Hill and Possibly CDL.
The main guy, RIker moved from one to another. I have worked with a
Richmond Hill switcher and it was a very decent switcher. Just got old and
could not do what the clients required. It was kind of a 2 ME with a mixer
at the end. I would have to really do some memory work as it was in the
70's. Stable unit.
Now for Vital. The story that I heard is there was a fire at the
plant and they never really recovered. The story is that a fire safety
demonstration was done and when the fire extinguisher was discharged into the
container with the fie, it blew it all over the place and caught the building on
fire. See do all your demonstrations outside. Not indoors.
Or was it that the guy was looking at Vital Nancy and got distracted?

Hello Don,
Somewhere in my life I have encountered that Riker panel, but can't place
it. More recently, it may be in one of my switcher junk piles which may have
made it more recognizable. If it's still there, it's resting with a TS 40
panel as well. I don't know the history of Riker or Richmond Hill. Likewise, I
don't know the demise of Vital, CDL, or others.
OK. Who can guess what this switcher is? Should be easy
for at least one contributor here (you may be exempt as you have worked on the
these!). Clue: Was a 2" quad era
switcher.

You're on a roll David. It was indeed a Riker. It was
missing one of the pattern waveform modules, so we built one to
replace it. Thinking back on those days, I'm kind of amazed how much I
got done compared to today's projects that seem to take forever!
What was the story with Riker and Richmond Hill? All the Riker
products were blue and Richmond Hill were beige, but otherwise they
were the identical devices. I have an undated Richmond Hill
catalog and lots of Riker ads, but don't see any mention of their
relationship. Did RH buy out Riker?

Now for bonus points, who knows what the SEG is? Riker?
