Now I remember that Tim, with the old Quantel Paintbox and DLS, Quantel
recommended switching the machine to mono - BVU or U-matic, for digital
stills xfers.

I have an F1, but its condition is unknown.
You also need to play the tape in a machine that does not have a luma
comb filter, or one that has a switchable comb filter.

Sony had a model "F1" that used a video transport to record a video signal
