[QuadList] Quad machine curiosities

The machine has a number of modifications, but the one that most caught my 
attention was the audio.  Looks like an Innovonics retrofit as used on some 
of the Ampex audio decks.  Anyone else do this to a VR-1200?  Was it a 
special unit for the 1200 or the same box as used for the 3xx decks?

And while you're looking at it, any ideas about what the additional unit 
immediately above the signal system might be?  If you enlarge the pic, it 
appears to be a commercial product, not home-brew.

Then finally, who made the tape timer?  It doesn't look like either the 
Recortec, Merlin or Vamco units.  Who else made one?
