If it is not holding user setups look for a battery on one of the boards. These units are from the era of external battery powered RAM. Could be a coin cell or more likely a half AA cell sized NICAD battery. Flash ROM was not mainstream yet in the early 1990s.
Note I have no knowledge of this particular unit, just what was the typical technology of the time.
Also are we sure it even has the capability to store setups?

Does anyone know anything about 'Feral' brand products?

Sorry for the interruption but this is the only place I know where to ask.
Can any of you video guys come up with an operating manual or service
manual for a "Feral C-100" time base corrector, and/or a "Feral
Effect 422" time base corrector? Xerox copy, JPG scan, ANYTHING?
I can get them both to work, but the Feral Effect 422 forgets
everything it ever knew about how I have it set when I turn the power
off, and I'd like to know if there is a way to program an EEPROM (or
whatever, if it's got one) to save the way I want it set.
I haven't found a thing on the Internet -- EXCEPT that anybody who'd
name a company 'Feral' has rocks in his head because a Google search
for anything with 'Feral' in it produces a mountain pile of junk
about 'feral cats'!!!!
Please reply directly to kurt_greske at eee.orgor on the Backroom list
to avoid off topic traffic here.
Thanks much,
Kurt
