Dennis,
Thanks much for the word pictures.
Glad you were able to get home safely to find no major damage. I hope you're able to stay warm as things get colder, and that you can find gasoline without too much trouble, since your drive to and from home is taking longer.
Sounds like 30 Rock's tech facilities have stayed on whether or not there were any power outages. That's not far from Fox News Channel's facility, where Shep Smith had no grid lights the night of the storm.
Having been from Newark to the Lower East Side and Midtown and back in May and from LaGuardia to West 57th and to MetroPark in NJ on Oct. 18th and 19th, I have a sense of "where" some of the remarkable images we're seeing are coming from and what places looked like "before."
I am glad they shut down the subways before the storm hit... and that most broadcast facilities were able to stay up to keep people informed.
Hope you can get some rest over the weekend, and it doesn't take too long for power to be restored.
Ted

The drive home to NJ was an 'adventure', for sure. So many downed trees and flooding along the way, police redirecting traffic at every route. It took some creative thinking to get through. I finally made it home after a mere 2 1/2 hours. This trip normally takes about 45 minutes.

There were hot showers and sleeping accomodations there. Many who work here have lost their homes or their homes are damaged and cannot be used. The company is really taking care of its own. I know they are doing it for many reasons including of course keeping the operation running. But that doesn't lessen the appreciation from those in need.
