According to Billboard Magazine's July 1, 1972 editiion, Ampex had started delivering the units, which were EIAJ-1 monochrome compatible and also compatile with the recommended EIAJ color standard.  Price in 1972 was $1,250.

(The same page also reports on the release of two Sanyo home reel to reel VTRs and IVC introducing the VCR-100 series of video cassette decks using recording the 1" IVC format.)
