Hi Folks,
Yes, it was built by Toshiba, and is a good machine.

I believe we were still in our joint marketing agreement with Toshiba and we owned 49% of the Japanese company known as Toamco, which allowed us to sell equipment into Japan ( mainly quads). 

They would have also built the Instavideo product for us, if it ever was marketed.
I have used this machine many times, we had a loaner in our dept, just for occasional uses.

I'm not sure if the image will come through, but the label appears to say "Toshiba Ampex".

I did want to express my dislike of those 8-pin monitor connectors though. Didn't realize they went back that far.
