First cameras I ran were Dumonts at KUHT Ch 8 Houston (University of Houston) and yes well remember the built in right hand focus. Moved the IO Tube forward/backwards on a sled type tube mount.
First cams I ever shaded too, after becoming involved in the Engineering side of things.
Those were the days!

I like John's idea since it would be cheap and easy to replace the shim when worn.
I like Dave's idea since it would make the part very tough if he used hard chrome.
