James,  Right Question, Wrong Group (these guys are way too smart)

Of course the answer is: For compatibility with the existing B&W televisions,
RCA figured out how to cleaverly interleave the sidebands of color information
into the picture, in between the video content harmonics of the 15,750 Hz
horizontal sweep via an odd divisor number in the sync generator that would
count down to create all the syncs.  The B&W compatible results are the
15,734 H and 59.97 V scan rates counted down with vacuum tubes ! from
3.579545 Hz in the "new" NTSC color system.  The better solution was to
count down from 14.31818 MHz. 

Was the tube model RCA sync generator the TG 2 with auxilary Color chassis?
