This is the Digest of the QuadList. Celebrating four years of Quad Conversations, July 25, 2012
Please change the subject line from "Digest" and Trim your post to JUST the relevant info when replying. That prevents the entire digest from re-posting.
You can copy and paste or highlight the desired material before hitting "reply" in most e-mail clients.
That will keep the entire digest and a bunch of headers with gobblydgook from being re-sent to the list.
Your subscribe, unsubscribe and digest options are at the bottom of the digest.
Thanks.

Dear Quad hardware gurus:
Here's a kind of a trade.
Like the previous "what is it" questions, here is a picture for you to
guess some details about.
I found these going through my esoteric junk boxes today and thought about
the quad group contests.
The second drawing is my real question.
I have been wracking (racking?) my brain trying to find these two pieces of
hardware on the Internet.
I can't figure out what to call them much less find them but I need them
for a project I'm working on.
I figure there are enough hardware gurus on the list that have seen and
worked with these, so I'll ask you guys.
The first drawing is of a nut with a bulb on the end, usually aluminum, that
is often used on covers of rackmount
equipment to hold the front plate on or somesuch. It mates to metal or
sometimes rubber brackets
that hold the plate firmly in place, but all you have to do is yank on the
plate and pull it off.
They are usually tapped with 6/32 or 4/40 threads. I can't figure out what
to call it much less find
it. I've used the extensive hardware searches on Mouser, Newark, and
DigiKey but without a name...
What's it called? Where can I get some?
The second should be really simple too, its an insulated standoff that I've
seen in quad machines (not totally OT, this post)
and tube type amplifiers. Also usually a 6/32 nut with an insulator then a
stalk to solder components to.
I guess there is no call for these anymore, but I'd sure like to find a
supply of them at a not too exhorbitant price.
So... see if you have any good guesses about the buttons and send along
your thoughts about these two
oddball items, I'd really appreciate it!
Dave
