[QuadList] 1966 Brigadoon question

Don,
I agree with you about the machine used to record the copy on the Internet Archive. It was a two head omega wrap. There were some guys modifying those B&W machines with hetrodyne processors. Maybe this was from one of those? The bandwidth and time base stability certainly is poor enough.
However, I understand from several sources that the network repeated this special in 1968 and that was the last time it was seen. The network rerun would have to have been from quad. It is conceivable that the mechanically edited master was recorded down the network during the 1966 initial run. They might have used this for time delay purposes. Maybe that copy is what was run in '68???
Best regards,
Harold

The '68 date would also explain the helical recording. Although color helicals were available in '66, I think they were all alpha wrap and so would have a dropout interval which this video does not have, indicating that this was recorded on an omega wrap machine. I can't think of any color omega wrap machines in '66. By '68, a color version of the Sony EV series could have been used as well as several other machines.

David,
Thanks for the input!
One thing still puzzles me.....It is said there was a second airing in 1968. It could have been a color kine, but I think unlikely. I wonder if there was a protection copy made?---perhaps for net time delay purposes?
Harold
