I remember, in my late teens/early 20's, traveling to the east coast and immediately noticing how very different (and better) the audio on familiar network shows sounded, even on cheezy motel TVs, than the net feeds we got in Detroit. The switchover to wideband audio, terrestrial and sat, was immediately noticed and appreciated. Then I had to wait for stereo.
