Hi Don & everyone!
I could not get the PDF file up, but many VR-1200 SC models were used in Mexico in 68. The IBC (International Broadcast Center) was all 1200's and at ABC who worked as the host broadcaster, had many also. These were the first VR-1200's built in Colorado Springs.
I shared an Apt with Al Trost (father of the VR-1200, AVR-2, VPR-20, and the VPR-3) since he was in Mexico to be sure all these machines worked properly.
This was 3 weeks before the opening day, and I spent 5 days checking out the VR-7800, and working with the Mexican network who were testing non-phased color for on-air use in small markets.
I then returned on the Olympic opening day(a Saturday) with a second complete VR-7800, super tweaked (by me) to support ABS-CBN of the Philippines, who were using the VR-7800's to cover their Wrestlers and send tapes back by air each day.
This was my first Olympic support effort, which continued through 1984 in LA.
Bye for now, love to all, Bill & Gewyn & Ginger (whoof...whoof)

And I obviously meant "not VR-2000's". Too much work
on 3000's lately!

If you look at the picture on page 5 that is captioned "One of three dual VR-2000 equipped recorder stations.....", you'll see that the machines in the picture are VR-1200 sidecar machines, not VR-3000's. There are several very distinct differences in the machines that make them easy to identify.
