A "shader" is the person responsible for delivering consistent values from the various sources (usually restricted to cameras) during a live broadcast.  Not inconsistent with the main duties of a colorist in the post environment.  Depending on the scope of the operation, the shader may only be expected to ride the levels during the production, but may also have the task of setting up and maintaining the color balance for changing conditions during a lengthy broadcast like sporting events that are conducted under uncontrolled day/night time periods.
