Several interesting question arise.

First does the base and motor mount have the air passages built in?  Thus all parts the same except for the shaft that goes in.

If so, do they change the port that is the disc on the bottom to show it is a ball bearing head?

I did notice the part that activates the plunger switch to tell the machine an air head is in use was missing.  So can you use a ball bearing head on a VR-1200 if the right preamp is installed?
