Moire was indirectly caused by the video head transducer tip technology available at that time in the mid '60s.

The ability to consistently produce video head transducer tips with the smaller gap distance required for the higher frequency(10mhz) was the obstacle that stood in the way of increasing the modulating frequency to reduce the second order sideband image frequencies(moire) introduced by the addition of the color subcarrier on the low band modulating frequency standard.

Later on in the '60s, vacuum sputtering and glass bonding enabled transducer production with consistent gap spacing at the smaller (~ 50 micron) distance required for the higher mod/demod frequencies.

I second Don's & Chris' ;no way to get rid of it", in the analog world.

Maybe try routing the video thru a DVNR for the heckuvit?
