In addition to Chris’s observation, also note that it is configured for use on a VR-1000 or VR-1100.  A different preamp would be required for use on a VR-1200 or VR-2000.

Note that this is a 5 mil head for use at 7.5 ips. Also it might have been used at the Ampex tape plant in Alabama.
