Since this is a Quad group, I will share my short story about Art Mairose. He used to rebuild ACR-25 Cart Machines since there were many in the LA and nearby areas. He would pick it up from the TV station and bring it to his shop in Burbank and completely rebuild it. When I first met Art, we were going to offer rebuild of the TCR-100 Cart machine and I was going to do that part. Sort of a full feature service facility. But that didn’t happen as we were both quite busy doing many other things. Art built several transfer and telecine facilities. Dubs most notable, VidFilm in Glendale, but was involved in others. His wife Sarah was also in the business but I have lost track of her since I left the area. He definitely was well versed in Ampex gear. Much more so than I with RCA gear. I’m glad we didn’t rebuild TCR-100s in the shop. The transport alone would probably undo any good work that I would have done. Much easier to do it on site, but Art was much more thorough and it probably would have survived nicely.

Thanks everyone, Quad One was the company I was trying to find. Sorry to hear he is no longer with us.
