The QuadList--Looking at options if one last effort to use MailMan doesn't fix problems--

Re: The QuadList:

After some further un-successful posting attempts by some of our more frustrated (and previously prolific) posters, I've come to the conclusion that a change in approach is needed.

I don't want to waste people's time generating further frustration.

I'll give the current MailMan approach one more try—— IF ——it is possible to back up all the existing messages and subscribers... delete the current instantation of MailMan, create a new one, and import the users and messages.

And we can then quickly determine that the existing problems have gone away.

I might create a test list and see if there are problems for these folks first.

I'm also looking at options, including forum software installable on the QuadVideotapeGroup.com website that allows users to receive e-mails about new posts, and reply to them by e-mail.

Currently available apps that are part of our webhosting package include:
AEF
FUDforum
FluxBB
MyBB
Phorum
PunBB
SMF
Vanilla
XMB
bbPress
miniBB
phpBB

I haven't had time to research or install/investigate these. Played a little bit with bbPress (a WordPress kin), Vanilla and FUDforum tonight. FUDforum may have support for some of what's needed, as identified below.

If anyone has specific knowledge of these apps, or the time to do so, I'd appreciate knowing whether they'll allow both a forum approach and an e-mail approach as we have now.

With 170+ subscribers, I want to be able to import the subscriber list, rather than have each subscriber have to register.

Being able to import the existing archive of messages and attachments would be a plus.

If there are other forum or list management apps folks can recommend, I'm interested in hearing about those.

Ease of installation, setup and management are high priorities.

That's the scoop for now.

Hope your last Friday in April 2015 goes well.
