OT--Montvale, NJ to NYC B'Way & W 4th St route suggestions?

I'm in Montvale, New Jersey headed for Manhattan tomorrow morning, down by Broadway and W. 4th St.

I'm looking for best routing recommendations to avoid traffic issues, construction, known bottlenecks.

I've done the Seacaucus to W. 39th St. "wait 45 minutes to get into the Lincoln Tunnel" bit before and would like to not do that

Google maps has suggested the Garden State Thruway connecting at Rochelle Park to Route four east to the George Washington Bridge, and then down 9A the Henry Hudson Parkway.

Then east on 14th St. to Broadway, down Broadway to West 4th St. and over the Mercer Street the back entrance to where I'm going.

Does that sound like a reasonable route if I left Montvale at 730am to arrive at a nearby parking garage by 8:45 AM tomorrow i.e. Friday morning?

days end:

Any suggestions for leaving there and heading north to Southbury Connecticut at 5-5:30 at night?

Helicopter is not an option, unfortunately.

I am open to parking the car in Montvale and taking the train if folks seem to think that's a reasonable option to that neck of the woods.
