Greetings from Northern California,

As part of a Broadcast TV studio clean out, I’m trying to find a good home for and save a cool studio cyc curtain system including draperies and track from being saws-alled to pieces and dumpstered/recycled.

Thought some of you might be connected with or know of organizations, institutions or others that would be able to make use of this.

Lighting grid elements including pipe and electrical distribution with hanging 3-pin stage plugs. Dimming system control board and dimmer modules also available.

Studio A:
Apx 59’ x 39’ with track around entire perimeter, and two “interior” tracks allowing draperies to be “switched” onto either of two tracks that run across the width of the studio at two points.

The track system appears to enable dividing the studio at a 1/3 from the “back” wall, and possibly at the half-way point. A “stage” look with “side wings” could be created.

Two sets of draperies in Studio A: Black and gray. Not sure of how many linear feet of each, yet.

It appears that the two sets of draperies will stretch around the perimeter. Investigating.

Drapery height apx. 12’ from floor with another foot of chain above to the track.

Panels seem to be in good shape on cursory inspection, no obvious rips, tears or stains.

Studio B:
Apx 18’ x 30’ with track around entire perimeter
Gray draperies.

Crosshatch style Pipe Grid is installed in both studios. Haven’t counted the spacing between them, but photos may give an idea of the style and spacing.

Also an idea about the style of power distribution.

Installed in mid 1990’s when facility was constructed. Relocation caused the clean out, and it seems a shame for this rather sophisticated Cyc system and useable studio equipment to be chopped into pieces and tossed in the dustbin or sent to a metal/cloth recycler when it could be carefully dismantled and installed in a new home, such as an LPTV station, education, church or other studio that’s doing local production.

Removal will likely require professional/insured contractor with man-lift certs, but that could cost well under that of a similar setup used or new.

More details may be possible this coming weekend. I anticipate being able to check the panels, take more photos, measure the linear feet of each color of drapery.

Please touch base with me off-list for further info and available pictures, and if you have specific questions.

I hope there’s a home for this cyc curtain system, somewhere as well as the grid, power distro and dimmer package.

If you can’t use it but do have an idea who can, please pass this on.

Thanks!

We’ve removed and will be testing:

3 full Sony BVP-575 systems camera with Canon lenses and studio rigging, 3 runs of Triax, (100’-150’ each, estimated could be longer) CCUs, Joystick shading panels, two Vinten Tern peds w/Mark III cam heads, Q-TV Prompter monitors, camera mounting plates and balance weights. CCUs have RGB outputs. RGB patch bay, RGB-SDI converters available.

Also have a number of one-piece and two-piece BetacamSP camcorders that might be useful for SD-centric live production, not necessarily as camcorders. Genlockable. Canon, Fuji and Nikon lenses. Testing.

Cheers, and again thanks!
