Great video! Just watched this video on YouTube.

The gentleman does some work on a lathe to make new brushes for the reel drive system.

Very interesting stuff... at least it's from the era of Quad.



My question: Did IBM engineer the mechanicals themselves, or were they farmed out to other companies?

You see vacuum columns on this drive that later made it to the AVR-1 and the ACR-25.



Now I need to find out who invented the vacuum column...
