Hi Norman:

Yes, that was the stock color. I have several of these in storage. In person, it’s not quite the same as the RCA color, but it is similar.

The sides look like RCA "new-look blue". Was that the stock color?

Hi Chris:

Nope. Different seller and different location.

The electronic timer I'm referring to is the system control timer, not the
tape timer. You are certainly correct about the tape timer. However, if
you look at the system control chassis, you'll see the mechanical version
which was used on the VR-1000. The 1100 was apparently rushed to production
from all of the accounts that I've heard, due to RCA's introduction of the
TR-22. In fact, the earliest marketing picture from Ampex for the VR-1100
still has a tube type audio system. That was quickly replaced, I believe
before any units were actually delivered. The mechanical system control
timer must have also been replaced fairly quickly since the first edition of
the manual includes the solid state timer, but this machine obviously still
has the mechanical version.

This is the same one. I believe The seller is the same person. It does not
have an air system. The machine looks like pieces were removed at one point.
Notice the proc amp is just sitting there with no screws. The rear shows
cables disconnected from a number of places The machine is in Louisville
Kentucky and I may be in the area next month but it would not even be worth
a stop. Lastly, mechanical timers were sold on all VR machines except for
the option on the 1200 C . Al the electronic timers that I have seen were
after market.
