Hi, Don,
A letter from Merlin to an Ultrafurb customer indicates:
"Ann additional 12 Volt power supply is added to the machine to power
the servo only. This reduces the lockup time and allows the original
12 Volt supply to operate more within its range of regulation
resulting in better signal to noise from the signal system."
I'll be posting this 1984 letter and some other Merlin stuff to the
website later this week.
The Merlin Ultrafurb replaced the Amtec, Colortec, Proc Amp and
Velcomp with an NEC NTC-10 TBC, "which incorporate(s) a wide range
velocity compensator and dropout compensation. The error signal
outputs are modified such that the operator will have simulated Amtec
and Velocity errors for setup."
