Name your formats... and they'll be represented in the material UNESCO  
is referring to.

Paper copies of films, nitrate, acetate and polyester film of many  
gauges and formats, film strips, wax audio cylinders, plastic  
Dictaphone belts, audio discs that use a variety of surfaces, groove  
configurations and speeds, wire recordings, paper audio tape, iron  
oxide audio tape of various widths, track formats and eq curves backed  
with various plastics.

I needn't go into the various permutations of video tape, optical  
discs and data storage formats of more recent vintage.

Unfortunately, none of this stuff is built like the Pyramids or the  
Parthenon. And all the archivists I know are struggling to figure out  
how to make the material accessible, and to keep it from becoming un- 
recoverable while they work that out and get the money to do it.
