If you multiply the $86,870 by 12 months and divide by 365 days, and  
then by 8 (hours) you get $357 an hour for the cross-country  
transmission.

Park and others may have current satellite transmission rates for SD  
bandwidth to make a comparison.
One needs to include the up and downlink costs if that's not included  
in just the time on the bird.
