Hello Doug, I have many years of interfacing TBC's to quads. All of the TBC's that Merlin installed had the switch pulse for head switching,
Ampex TBC-800, NEC,'s 5000, 10, 10B all had this input.
The ref. sync that is routed to the quad is advance in time to center the signal in the TBC window and to have the signal in sync with the house ref.
The Amtec has a circuit that delays the horiz. ref. that is routed to the intersync board #4. Most TBC do not work with fast timeing errors as the input circuits are design to work from vertical to vertical not horiz line to line.
