[QuadList] Fits in a Volkswagen Microbus! The Ampex VR-1100E and 1200E--f...

I saw one of the VR-1200E machines at the University of Windsor.  This  was 
something that I had never seen again.  The picture of the one in the  VW 
is the 1100 version because of the doors.  The question that I have is  does 
this have a ball bearing head or does it require air?
