Hi Ted,

I tried to send this to you several times, but it keeps bouncing back with a
message about "over quota". Anyway, this was my message:

Your comment below: The posted file has a severe echo to it that I don't
remember Don mentioning in any e-mails or phone conversations, so I don't
know whether that was the way either tape sounded, or whether its a case of
the un-altered sound is on one audio track and the "restored" sound is on
the other, with an out of sync condition when both are mixed. I'll ask.

Here's the deal: The original program runs, intact, on Ch.1 audio of the
D-2. On Ch.2, however, I bounced the original track and then edited the
E-Q'd sound in at the point where the switch occurred. For whatever reason,
the D-2 shifted the new audio slightly out of phase. I tried several times
to get it in sync, but it wasn't going to happen. The error is a fraction
of a frame. Close enough! The echo you heard is exactly what you thought.
It's the sum of both channels, from the edit point onward. The original
audio has no echo at all. You're hearing the original, tinny, audio mixed
with the "E-Q'd" audio. That actually sounds worse than either when
combined.

Hope this helps you.

Don Kent
