I'm going to remember that.   The logic then is this: electronics  
contain inhibited smoke.
The smoke almost has a character, a joie de vivre, an alacrity,  
yearning to be free.

Yesterday the little junk-TV that the mother-in-law uses to watch  
novellas over-the-air gave a loud *bAnGSnAPP* and went dark with a  
following random click-snick every 1-2 seconds.  I was kind of  
grooving on the event and didn't want to unplug it in expectation more  
interesting things might happen.  I even got off on the acrid cheap  
burning plastic smell.   I think the tube went, and that set had  
already been repaired more than once.  But here in Brasil it's common  
to repair things, which is a forlorn process because things break and  
are made like junk.   Fans, irons, hair dryers, TVs, beard trimmers, -  
they all break constantly and are rewired, jury-rigged and the repair  
shops are the saddest places.  Even the abandoned 4th-hand hair  
kitchen mixer, repaired and coated with dust and phlegm, tape on the  
AC plug, is for sale at 30$.

I'll have to find some kind of furniture mailinglist to talk about how  
that all breaks too.   This is one big reason why Brasilians all want  
to go to the US.  Then they get there and realize there's no samba or  
smiling people and they flock back here to Brasil.
