Last night (Monday, June 21, the longest night of the year) probably
seemed long at the theater in Hollywood where the "Jimmy Kimmel Show"
tapes.

The power went out. About an hour before showtime. No juice to the
control room, tape ops area or transmission.

But it's Show Business and you know what has to go on....

Accounts differ on what was working, but they agree that Kimmel
grabbed his MacBook and recorded the show using the webcam in the
laptop.

The show's publicist says "Guests Seth Rogen, John Henson and country
artist Dierks Bentley were very accommodating in 'going with what
happened.'"

The show airs tonight (actually 12:05a Wed. morning in many markets)

Jimmy was able to run a trailer from Rogen's new movie, but the
stories don't day how. (Laptop screen via wifi?

No word whether he cut the teases for the show on the MacBook also.

Kimmel has apparently been through studio power outages before. One
hit the Bonnie Hunt show when Kimmel visited in Nov. 2009. He joked
that "We pay the bills over at my show."

So a few questions: If this ABC show is a union affair, did Jimmy
have to get someone with a NABET/CWA finger to push push the virtual
record button on his MacBook?

If this level of quality is acceptable to viewers... do you suppose
some starving station or net will begin programming content from
YouTube 24/7.

Have fun on this second? longest day of the year.

Ted
