[QuadList] Ampex High Speed Dubber and later VHS systems

This is an excellent post regarding the high speed duplication of  tapes.
 
I was wondering how did these units do the audio and control tracks?   Were 
these done the same way, just copy the magnetic domains or were they done  
with a separate set of heads?
