Aftermarket add on tape timer for your VR-2000/VR-1200 machines to give greater accuracy.
I believe the manufacturer was Recordtec (same folks that made the massive tape evaluator that would give you a dropout count and bulk your tape all at the same time.
Think another company that started with a V made a similar device.

All the comments about Ball Brothers agree with my recollections, but I 
always thought that they were a bit odd anyway since they were primarily 
know for making canning jars!  Talk about diversification!

The machines in the pics appear to be VR-1200C's.  That puts them late in the 1200 era.

OK, it's almost 5 o'clock here on the US East Coast, so it's time for my weekend puzzle post.  I've tried to come up with something that's not too easy, so maybe there won't be an instant answer, but knowing you guys, I'm NOT holding my breath!

I'm sure everybody knows what this is......but who made it?
